GM to close Canadian transmission plant

As it negotiates a new contract with the Canadian Auto Workers, General Motors Canada said that it will close its transmission plant in Windsor, Ontario, in the second quarter of 2010. CAW President Buzz Hargrove said the union was told that after spending three years trying to identify a product for the plant, there would be no product by September, when GM's contract with the union expires.
