Local sales slump but exports soaring

April 2008's new vehicle sales, at 42 359, were down by 1204 against the also poor April 2007 total, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of SA has reported. New car sales year-on-year are down seven percent and light commercials 0.8 percent with reported new car sales at 24 094 units compared to the 25 913 sold in April 2007.
