For Volvo, the Swedish maker of safe, sturdy cars owned by Ford Motor, life is getting lonely. Its aristocratic English cousins, Jaguar and Land Rover, are in the final stages of being sold off to Tata Motors of India, leaving Volvo as the only European luxury brand in Ford's stable.
