Rick Wagoner, chairman and chief executive of General Motors, defended his record at the head of the US motor giant and made it clear he had no intention of resigning if talks on a three-way alliance result in a shift in control. The future of GM is at stake following the decision to mount a 90-day study into the merits of a partnership with Renault of France and Nissan of Japan.
