New car sales in Europe fell 2.8 percent in November as an intensifying price war and this year's raft of fresh models could not prevent drops in four of the five top markets.
Weak showings in Britain, Spain, Germany and France eclipsed an upturn in Italy and ensured overall car sales extended October's drop of 2.6 percent amid consumer reluctance to splash out on cars.
